Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 10 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 8 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the Social and Economic Committee (SEC) or Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
  • Ability to have strong attention to detail, and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Ability to own projects and lead others (direct or indirect) to meet deadlines while maintaining quality of the work.
  • Ability to remove and anticipate roadblocks with the potential to impede progress.
  • Excellent organizational, investigative skills with the ability to communicate effectively with executive management.

About the job

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support business objectives.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of navigating accounting guidance for arrangements. You will partner and collaborate to understand go-to-market offerings and agreement constructs. You will provide a point-of-view on technical accounting issues and drive impact by thinking on your feet and proposing alternative structures. You will know your way around the codification and other accounting literature. You will have technical accounting and problem-skills. You will be solving accounting problems and embark on each day with an eye toward overcoming issues. You will act as a team player and will learn something new every day.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $158,000-$228,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Perform technical research on complex accounting issues (with heavy emphasis on business arrangements, contingent considerations, etc.) and provide accounting consultation advice to business partners under US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Work with various cross-functional stakeholders on complex accounting issues.
  • Draft and maintain global accounting policies and memos.
  • Keep business partners abreast of developments in accounting and financial reporting and related firm policies and positions through issuance of various publications, training sessions and other meeting forums; draft comment letters to standard setters.
