Senior Tax Analyst – Alternative Investments (Boston)
A Boston-based Investment Management firm is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to support the tax function across a complex investment platform consisting of hedge funds and commitment-based venture funds. This role offers strong exposure to partnership taxation, alternative investments, and complex fund structures within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Compensation: $115,000-130,000 base
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax workpapers, partner allocations, estimates, and projections
- Review tax adjustments, including wash sales, constructive sales, straddles, and PFIC identification
- Support K-1 preparation and distribution with third-party providers and fund administrators
- Assist with the preparation and review of fund and management company tax returns
- Manage tax compliance filings, 1099 reporting, withholding filings, and PTE elections
- Research technical tax issues and prepare memos for senior leadership
- Monitor tax law changes and identify potential risks or planning opportunities
- Respond to investor tax-related requests and inquiries
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and service providers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required (CPA or MST preferred)
- 3–5+ years of partnership tax experience (minimum 2 busy seasons)
- Background in alternative investments, hedge funds, or investment managers required
- Knowledge of Subchapter K, fund structures (master-feeder), and partnership agreements
- Familiarity with ASC 740, book-to-tax adjustments, PFICs, and financial products taxation
- Strong Excel skills required
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
