Senior Tax Accountant / Lead Tax Accountant
Location: Bloomington, MN | Primarily Onsite (occasional WFH flexibility)
Compensation: $90,000–$110,000
Position Summary
We’re seeking a well-rounded tax professional to own the full scope of corporate tax compliance for a multi-entity, multi-state organization. This role, created due to internal promotion, serves as the company’s primary internal tax resource and partner to accounting leadership.
Reporting to the Controller, you will lead income tax, sales and use tax, and personal property tax compliance across the enterprise. This position is ideal for someone with a strong public accounting foundation who has moved into (or is ready to move into) an in-house tax role with broad ownership and visibility.
Essential Responsibilities
• Prepare, coordinate, and file federal, state, and local income tax returns, including pass-through entities
• Manage multi-state sales and use tax filings and remittances
• Oversee personal property tax compliance and assessments
• Maintain book-to-tax reconciliations and Schedule M adjustments
• Support fixed asset and depreciation-related tax reporting
• Serve as the primary internal resource for tax questions and guidance
• Partner with external advisors on audits and tax matters
• Assist with estimated payments, forecasting, and tax planning initiatives
• Maintain tax systems/ERP tools and drive process improvements
• Ensure organized retention of returns, workpapers, and documentation
• Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive tax experience
• Public accounting and/or in-house tax experience preferred
• Experience with income tax, sales and use tax, and property tax compliance
• CPA preferred
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with tax compliance systems
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams
