Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Engineer or Scientist in our environmental sciences and engineering practice in our Seattle, WA or Costa Mesa, CA offices, with the potential to work remotely from your home office at the discretion of the Company. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




Assess exposure and human health risks from chemicals in contaminated environmental media and consumer products.
Manage and analyze data to support environmental investigations and prepare tables, figures, and other data exhibits.
Perform calculations to support human health and ecological risk assessments and environmental regulatory compliance.
Conduct literature searches and critically review and evaluate scientific studies regarding toxicological, biological, chemical fate and transport, exposure, or other risk assessment subject matters.
Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, workplans, proposals, investigative reports, and presentations.
Focus on team project delivery, taking direction primarily from supervisors and Project Managers.
Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure




Bachelor's degree in biology or toxicology. (required)
Advanced degree with focus on aquatic toxicology (M.S. or Ph.D.). (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications




At least 2 years of post-academic environmental consulting or research experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
Experience and knowledge with aquatic toxicity. (required)
Experience and knowledge with PFAS bioaccumulation and toxicity. (required)
Knowledge of and experience in exposure assessment, human health risk assessment and ecological risk assessment. (preferred)
Prior research experience in environmental science. (preferred)
Experience with risk communication to stakeholders. (preferred)
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
Proven ability to publish scientific articles and/or present at scientific conferences. (preferred)
Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

Minimum Salary: $70,595/year / Maximum Salary: $106,945/year (Seattle, WA; Costa Mesa, CA)
