POSITION DUTIES: Work under general direction, applying their skills and expertise to generate solutions that require development or sustainment of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. Responsibilities include assisting with planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meet project objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
The day-to-day duties of the position of Electrical Control Engineer III, are as follows:
1.     Use prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
2.     Design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery based on given requirements and specifications.
a.      Prepare control system equipment specifications and review vendor drawings;
b.     Prepare Logic Diagrams, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Control System Architectures and data sheets;
c.      Develop functional descriptions and control philosophies to communicate functionality of company developed programs;
d.     Develop basic software under the supervision of a superior to support Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI);
e.      Select instrumentation and automation hardware;
f.       Recommend changes for ineffective procedures, designs or specifications;
g.     Prepare procurement specifications, material requisitions and perform technical bid analysis.
3.     Apply knowledge of project change control process to identify potential changes.
4.     Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups.
5.     Prepare, review and approve drawings as required.
6.     Advise the Project Engineer about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
a.      Assist with the development of manpower, man-hour, and labor cost requirements for a project and can monitor them to aid in evaluating budget limitations;
b.     Take the lead on estimating tasks and perform material take-offs for a specific discipline;
c.      Ensure quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.
7.     Plan and schedule engineering efforts associated with assigned project.
a.      Maintain timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities;
b.     Keep proper engineering files and records;
c.      Develop understanding of industry codes and standards.
8.     Conduct and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing of various electrical and control equipment, such as PLC and Network Enclosures, E-Houses, Motor Control Centers and electrical and control components if mechanically packaged equipment.
a.      Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement or repair;
b.     Troubleshoot, identify and isolate faults.
9.     Conduct and assist in Start-Up and Commissioning
a.      Travel to site for start-up and commissioning of the project;
b.     Perform Electrical, Electrical Controls, and Instrumentation Control duties and some mechanical duties such as set-up, adjustment, calibration, tuning, troubleshooting;
c.      Troubleshoot electrical controls, PLC programs, processor-based program/diagnostic panels and relay logic controls in various manufacturing equipment Experience with program/software such as PanelView, iFix, Delta V or other similar distributive control systems is preferred, but not required;
d.     Gather and maintain specified records of technical data such as tests and drawings, perform computations, plot data, or draw curves, graph and chart as required.
RATE OF PAY: $136,706.00
per year. The employer will pay or exceed the prevailing age, as determined by the U.S. Department of Labor.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or related plus 2 years' experience as electrical engineer or related. Experience to include at least 2 years working knowledge of: site inspections, investigating electrical equipment, writing reports, proposals & preparing designs; electrical room, lighting, cables, raceway, grounding and control system design using 2D using AutoCad, Microstation, Capture; configuration of protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB) and Low voltage VFDs (Rockwell, ABB, Eaton); configuration of communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, Devicenet, Controlnet); mining and /or bulk material handling industries, working mining equipment including Stackers, Reclaimers, Conveyors, Crushers, Shiploaders; factory Acceptance Test (FAT) on Control and/or Power Distribution equipment handling of electrical power & control and instrument circuits by generating all E&I project related drawings; pre-commissioning and Commissioning for Power and Control Systems including Transformers, Switchgear, MCC, PLC Panels; Software Acceptance Testing & development of Tie-In procedures; and Electrical Power Software: ETAP and SKM, SmartPlant, E-Plan, SEE PLC Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure Control Expert (Unity Pro), Siemens TIA Portal, HMI -- Rockwell FactoryTalk SE/ME, Aveva (Wonderware), Siemens WinCC.
