Millennium Health LLC is an accredited specialty laboratory with more than a decade of experience in medication monitoring and drug testing services, helping clinicians monitor the use and misuse of prescription medications and illicit drugs. The testing is used by healthcare professionals to obtain objective information about patients’ recent use of prescription medications and/or illicit drugs and helps monitor the effectiveness of treatment plans.
The Research & Development Scientist / Sr. Scientist – Toxicology advances Millennium Health’s medication monitoring and drug testing capabilities by optimizing and validating existing toxicology methods and by developing new assays to support evolving clinical needs. This position combines strong scientific judgment with hands-on laboratory execution to deliver robust, scalable methods that can be implemented in a regulated clinical laboratory environment.
Assay Optimization and Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate and improve existing LC-MS/MS methods and related workflows supporting toxicology testing (including sample preparation and chromatography).
- Drive enhancements in method performance (accuracy, precision, sensitivity/specificity, reportable range), turnaround time, and cost.
- Identify root causes and implement corrective improvements that support
New Assay and Panel Development
- Develop new assays and expand testing menus based on clinical demand, prescribed/illicit drug trends, and program needs.
- Plan and execute feasibility studies, method development, method validation, and technology transfer to clinical operations with clear acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with internal partners (Operations, QA/QC, and other stakeholders) to support implementation planning and go-live readiness.
Scientific Leadership and Troubleshooting
- Stay current on advances in toxicology testing and instrumentation to help inform future method improvements and menu expansion
- Serve as a technical resource for mass spectrometry-based methods, sample preparation, and analytical troubleshooting.
- Provide advanced problem-solving support for complex method performance issues, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Mentor and train scientists and laboratory staff on new methods, best practices, and technical concepts as needed.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with lab operations, QA/QC to plan method transfers, training, and post-implementation support.
- Summarize and communicate study results to internal stakeholders; make clear recommendations supported by data.
- Develop training materials and deliver hands-on training for new methods and workflow updates.
- Manage project plans and timelines for assigned work; coordinate dependencies to meet development milestones.
- Ability to ensure HIPAA, Confidentiality, and Compliance policy, procedures, and standards are always adhered to.
- Ability to ensure administrative, physical, and technical cybersecurity controls are always adhered to.
Requirements
- MS in Sciences such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
- PhD. preferred
- At least 5 years of industrial experience, preferably in an R&D analytical laboratory.
- Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS techniques, including sample preparation, chromatography, method development, data interpretation, and validation.
- Familiarity with GLP and cGMP environment, LIMS experience, and project management.
Understanding the principles of statistical tools is highly desirable - Demonstrated ability and proven track record of successful development of assays/products.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong team player in a multidisciplinary environment; fully committed to development timelines.

Potential Hiring Range:
- Salary Range: $115,000 – $135,000 /yr.
- Salary offered is dependent on qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
