Job Overview
The Senior Principal Consultant will lead the design and implementation of a new job architecture and compensation framework in preparation for SAP SuccessFactors rollout. This role partners closely with Compensation, HR People Partners, HR Technology, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and governance standards.
The assignment is fully remote, open to local and non-local candidates, provided availability during Pacific business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PT). Occasional in-person meetings in Oakland or San Ramon, CA are preferred as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct job evaluations, determining job classifications and job levels.
  • Analyze the impact of proposed pay structures and align with broad-based compensation strategy.
  • Design and harmonize job architecture, consolidating job families for SAP Job Profile Builder readiness.
  • Develop and maintain employee mappings to the new job architecture.
  • Perform market pricing and benchmarking to establish competitive pay ranges.
  • Analyze large, complex data sets to identify trends and deliver strategic recommendations.
  • Design, audit, and standardize compensation structures across HR systems.
  • Create executive-level presentations to influence senior leadership decision-making.
  • Develop organization-wide skills frameworks, governance models, and sustainability processes.
  • Maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting to track progress and outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert, providing training and consultation to HR and business partners.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, I/O Psychology, or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of compensation or HR experience
  • 10+ years of leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job architecture, and pay structures
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Excel (complex formulas), Word, and Access
  • Experience with SAP or other HR management systems
  • Knowledge of compensation-related legal compliance (FLSA, Equal Pay Act, ADA, ADEA)
Preferred
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
  • Experience designing compensation programs for regulated public companies
  • Strong background in project planning, stakeholder management, and change management
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors implementations
