Title: Senior Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer
Location: Farmington, CT
Duration: Direct Hire / Permanent
Pay: $90,000 - $130,000, DPOE

 

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing Designer to lead the design of plumbing and fire protection systems for complex commercial, institutional, healthcare, and laboratory facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while collaborating with a strong multidisciplinary team.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design of plumbing and fire protection systems from concept through construction documents
  • Develop layouts and specifications for systems including domestic water, sanitary and storm piping, gas systems, medical gas, compressed air, vacuum, and specialized laboratory systems
  • Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural teams
  • Perform system calculations, equipment selection, and prepare technical specifications
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to quality design standards
  • Participate in client meetings, project coordination, and occasional site visits

 

What We’re Looking For

  • 10+ years of plumbing and fire protection design experience in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or laboratory environments
  • Strong knowledge of building, plumbing, fire, and energy codes (NFPA, IBC, IPC, and related standards)
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience designing laboratory, healthcare, or specialized piping systems is highly valued
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across disciplines
  • PE license, LEED accreditation, or engineering degree are preferred but not required
