The Senior Payroll Specialist will play a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while serving as a subject matter expert and partner to HR, Finance, and internal stakeholders.

Overview of the Senior Payroll Specialist:

  • Process bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly payroll for a large, multi-state workforce in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll data including wages, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and benefits.
  • Assist with payroll tax filings, audits, reconciliations, and year-end processing such as W2's.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll issues and employee inquiries.
  • Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support system upgrades, testing, implementations, and process implementations, and process improvements.
  • Maintain documentation of payroll procedures and internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Payroll Specialist:

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state, high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with large payroll systems (Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a dynamic, dead-line driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
