Senior Optical Engineer OSP/ISP (L4 / Architect)

Los Angeles, CA (Onsite – 4 days/week)

We are seeking a Senior Optical Engineer with deep experience across both OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) to lead end-to-end fiber design and deployment—from metro routes to in-building connectivity and optical system turn-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and validate fiber routes (OSP) including metro rings, laterals, and building entry with proper route diversity
• Engineer ISP infrastructure: MMRs, ODFs, patching, risers, and in-building pathways
• Develop splice plans, fiber assignments, and optical budgets
• Perform and review OTDR, IL, ORL testing and ensure acceptance criteria
• Lead optical turn-up (DWDM/CWDM, routers, OTN systems)
• Create as-builts, test documentation, and MOPs for deployment and handoff
• Support high-availability networks, including broadcast/event traffic environments

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of OSP + ISP fiber engineering experience
• Strong expertise in fiber design, splicing, and lab/field testing
• Hands-on with DWDM/CWDM systems, ROADM, EDFA, and optical transport
• Experience with OTDR, power meters, and fiber testing tools
• Ability to design A/B protected paths with strict SLAs
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS tools, and network documentation

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting live broadcast / sporting event networks
• Familiarity with TIA/EIA, ITU-T standards, and fiber compliance
• Strong collaboration with construction, splicing, and network teams
