This role is part of the Emerging Systems Business Unit, which will shape the future of our in-space infrastructure capabilities.

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

Special Mentions:

This role will be onsite in Bay Area, CA. It is approved for a temporary remote work exception while our local site is developed
Relocation assistance is available for this position
Travel may be required up to 15% of the time to Blue Origin facilities and partner locations

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Architect and implement network orchestration solutions to create a routing framework for satellite networks
Create and maintain network models to predict performance and identify optimization opportunities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network capabilities into broader systems and applications
Analyze network performance and troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems
Implement security best practices and protocols to protect network infrastructure
Evaluate and recommend new networking technologies and solutions to enhance network capabilities and performance
Understand the implications of network planning on spacecraft operations and design accordingly
Lead technical discussions and provide expert guidance on networking solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or related technical field
7+ years of experience in network architecture, design, or engineering
Strong understanding of networking and network protocols including OSPF, RIP, BGP, MPLS, SRv6, L2 VPNs, and L3 VPNs
Experience with architecting, designing, or developing software-defined networking solutions
Experience with network modeling and simulation tools
Proficiency in developing and maintaining network architecture diagrams and technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience in network architecture with focus on routing
Experience with networking for constrained links such as 3GPP and satellite networks
Knowledge of spacecraft operations and constraints as they relate to communications systems
Familiarity with network function virtualization and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Background in aerospace or defense industries
Certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or equivalent advanced networking certifications
Knowledge of emerging space-based networking standards and technologies

Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20
WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
