JOB SUMMARY
Provides leadership and management for administering and troubleshooting networks, systems, and software on primarily Cisco and Palo Alto based networks. Provides capacity planning, scheduling, monitoring, problem and configuration management, equipment controls and maintenance, replacement strategies, and operations documentation. Will involve establishing and working in a network operations center with firewalls, routing, network monitoring, and wireless technology deployments. Maintains and assures integrity of Information Technology infrastructure and fiber backbone. Primary focus will be on network components, security, firewalls, internet connectivity, bandwidth issues and other network related concerns, especially those related to airport systems (e.g., EVIDS, FIDS, EASE, CUTE-Common Use Terminal Equipment, CUPPS- Common Use Passenger Processing Systems, etc.) Provides support during regularly scheduled hours and, if necessary, “after-hours” for the Airport Authority and Airport tenants as needed.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential JobResponsibilities:
Responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining network access, security devices, and connectivity including secure firewall policies, remote users utilizing virtual private networks (VPN), SSL-VPN, and wireless access.
Ensures computer networks, servers, databases, and files are secure from unauthorized use and data is backed up and recoverable to ensure data integrity in case of catastrophic loss.
Install, upgrade, monitor, and troubleshoot issues with networks, including client computers (i.e., desktops, laptops, tablets), phone systems, cell phones, other telecommunication devices, VoIP, and wireless systems.
Initiates, negotiates (if necessary), manages, administers, and evaluates vendors, outsource, and consultant contracts and service agreements in consultation with the Senior Vice-President, Chief Information Officer.
Takes necessary, timely, and effective action to ensure work of outside entities is timely, in conformance with contract documents, and within required budget.
Serve as the project manager for assigned IT projects, to ensure design goals, management reports, project schedules, budgets, plans and specifications, is conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Manage budget, expenditures, adherence to project schedules, scope negotiations, negotiation of change orders for contractors and consultants, where applicable.
Manage and work with contractors and specialty technology consultants to ensure the requirements of the project are being met.
Monitors network function and security with appropriate audits, reviews, analysis, and testing.
Provides technical expertise relating to network systems and security to the Senior Vice-President, Chief Information Officer, and designated project teams.
Confers with other managers, directors, and various vendors to evaluate hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment.
Ensures computer networks are free of viruses and malware through use of up-to-date protection software and testing.
Provides both Tier 1 and 2 support for Authority employees, passenger-facing technologies, and Airport- provided tenant systems.
Assists with the maintenance of multiple-user flight information display system (MUFIDS), gate information display system (GIDS), and baggage information display systems (BIDS).
Administers user account/services such as Active Directory/Exchange accounts, VOIP services, Microsoft Office suite, internet access, and security permissions.
Determines user access restrictions for security, confidentiality and licensing requirements and audits for compliance.
Maintains and protects all enterprise information, with special emphasis on information deemed to be sensitive or confidential.
Responsible for the testing, installation and administration of network software patches and upgrades.
Maintains an inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities. Interfaces with outsourced IT, phone, and networking vendors as required.
Develops and assists the Senior Vice-President, Chief Information Officer with the implementation of disaster recovery plans.
Responsible for switch and firewall backups and secure off-site storage.
Responsible for the maintenance of the Storage Area Network.
Responsible for the design, setup and maintenance of all airport telecommunications systems including supervising any vendors responsible for implementing and supporting those systems. Implements and maintains the airport central telephone system and voicemail software.
Coordinates, rearranges, adds, and relocates workstations and peripherals of the Local Area Network by physically adding and/or changing hardware or cabling.
Responsible for the maintenance of Firewall and Switch logs.
Keeps current with the latest technologies and research potential technology solutions.
Required to work in shifts including outside of normal business hours, as deemed necessary by supervisor.
Education and Experience:
4-year (Bachelor's) degree from an accredited college or university, preferable in Computer Science, data processing or Information Systems or equivalent experience on a one-to-one year basis.
Graduate (Master's) degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Computer Science, data processing or Information Systems or equivalent experience on a one-to-one year basis, preferred.
Six (6) years or more of progressively responsible experience as a computer/network specialist, end-user support technician, certified network administrator, and/or networking professional.
Certifications may be used for partial substitution of education or experience requirements at the discretion of management.
One or more applicable network, system, or security certifications:
- MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) or equivalent Microsoft Advanced Expert.
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or equivalent Cisco Professional/ Expert
- CISSP (Certified Information, Systems Security Professional) or equivalent ISC2.
- VCP (VMWare Certified Professional), Nutanix Certified Professional or equivalent.
Familiar with LAN/WAN topologies; server documentation and maintenance of backups, errors, and security procedures, preferred.
Familiar with common physical data cabling, Twisted Pair, Single and Multi- mode Fiber, preferred.
Hardware Configuration: Familiar with laptop configuration and repair, PC and server maintenance and troubleshooting, upgrading hardware components, for servers and desktop units, printer maintenance, and configuration of units for the network as needed. Installation and configuration of other peripherals as needed, preferred.
LicensesandCertifications:
Valid Florida Driver's License or must obtain within (30) days of assuming the position. CompTIA A+. Network+, Security+, CySA+, preferred.
MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional), preferred.
MCSA (Microsoft Certified Associate)/MCSE (Microsoft Certified Expert), preferred.
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching) or equivalent, preferred.
CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or equivalent, preferred.
CISSP (Certified Information, Systems Security Professional) or equivalent, preferred.
VCP (VMWare Certified Professional), Nutanix Certified Professional, preferred.
Additional IT certification(s) that distinguishes skill set on network security, VoIP, VMware, Firewall, or WAN, preferred.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is the highest-level class in the Network classification series responsible for performing the full range of technical support duties for the Authority's network, communication systems, computer and mobile endpoints operations and/or programs. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Assignments are given with general guidelines, and work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.
The Network Administrator I II class series differs from the Senior Network Manager in that incumbents of the latter class perform work requiring a higher level of skill, technical certification, responsibility, and expertise, and resolve complex issues related to server administration and other enterprise infrastructure such as local and wide area networks, information security or systems performance. Senior Network Manager may also supervise the work of Network Administrators and Technical Support Specialists.
