Senior Network Engineer (IT Professional III)

Network Design and Implementation: Planning, designing, and implementing network architectures, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and data center networks, utilizing various networking protocols and technologies. (OSPF and BGP Layer 3 routing architecture planning, DWDM planning and deployment, structured cabling, optical routing, etc). Must have BGP routing experience to configure and support a border router. Must have experience creating and implementing VLANs.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identifying and resolving complex network issues, analyzing network performance metrics, and performing preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. Installing and replacing equipment, being on-call, and providing support. Must know the various types of category cabling (5e, 6, 6a) and the types of fiber and differences between them. The prospective candidate must be able to access a telecommunications room and identify the various cabling type, infrastructure, and equipment.
Network Security: Implementing and managing network security measures like Network Access Control and Optical Transport encryption to protect network integrity.
Hardware Configuration: Installing, configuring, and managing network hardware such as routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls. Perspective candidate must have experience unboxing, installing a switch or router in a rack or cabinet, and MUST have experience configuring the equipment. Hands-on experience with configuring global and port configurations. Must have experience using Cisco command line for configuring Cisco switches or routers.
Capacity Planning: Proactively monitoring network usage, identifying potential bottlenecks, and planning for future network capacity needs.
Documentation and Reporting: Creating and maintaining comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configuration details, and incident reports.
Team Leadership and Mentoring: Guiding and mentoring junior network engineers, providing technical expertise and support.
Collaboration: Working with other IT teams (systems administrators, security engineers) to integrate network systems with other infrastructure components.
Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of emerging network technologies, industry best practices, and vendor updates.
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
E-Work/Hybrid Work: Currently, this position is eligible to e-work up to 1 day per week! After you complete your first 6 months, contingent on work requirements and other factors, you’ll be eligible for this fantastic benefit.
Minimum of a 4-year degree and 2 years of related work experience.
OR: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field and 2 years of related work experience.
OR: Master’s degree and 1 year of related work experience.
OR: 6+ years of progressively responsible professional or technical experience as described herein may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.
Valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire.
Several years of hands-on experience as a network engineer. This is defined as unboxing equipment, installing equipment, and configuring equipment (routers, switches, and WIFI equipment)
Expert with Cisco command line to access, configure, and troubleshoot routers and switches.
Relevant network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE).
Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VRF).
Expertise in network hardware and software configuration (Cisco, Juniper, etc.).
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Network security knowledge and experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
