Mechanical Design Engineer – Deep Drawn Metal Stamping
About the Role
Join an innovative manufacturing organization seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in deep drawn metal stamping. This is an opportunity to work on high-precision metal forming projects in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment focused on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize tooling, fixtures, and components for deep drawn and stamped metal parts.
Develop detailed 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Perform feasibility studies, simulations (FEA preferred), and tolerance analysis to ensure manufacturability.
Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, and supply chain teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
Lead prototyping efforts, analyze test results, and refine designs for high-volume production.
Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to improve reliability and performance.
Support Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Maintain clear documentation and manage projects from concept through production.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in deep drawn metal stamping (high-volume manufacturing preferred).
Advanced CAD proficiency; experience with FEA and simulation tools strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of metallurgy, metal forming, and machining processes.
Proven problem-solving skills and project management experience.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
