Position Description

The Senior Interior Designer plays a pivotal role in driving project excellence, overseeing the comprehensive project lifecycle, and leading collaborative design efforts. This key position combines creative vision with strategic project management while mentoring and developing emerging design talent. You'll work within a dynamic, approachable studio environment where individual strengths blend together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee interior design phases and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects, establishing clear project direction while managing budgets and schedules
  • Lead and manage teams of Interior Designers and Junior Designers with minimal supervision, delegating and assigning tasks strategically to optimize team performance
  • Collaborate with project leads to establish initial project frameworks including budgeting and resource allocation
  • Monitor interior design budgets proactively, recommending and implementing necessary adjustments to ensure project success
  • Manage resources effectively within projects to meet both budget parameters and programmatic requirements
  • Lead professionally and technically competent teams of various skill levels, ensuring service delivery aligns with Client Agreements
  • Analyze and determine client programs, delivering services accordingly while regularly updating programs and advising team members
  • Manage client expectations with finesse, coordinating seamless communication among team members and consultants
  • Participate actively with sales and design teams in developing compelling proposals, presentations, and innovative project designs
  • Manage and oversee the activities of direct reports engaged in preparing interior drawings and specifications
  • Ensure preparation of documents complies with design intent and deliverables per Client Agreements
  • Guide design teams through major design decisions involving spatial planning, materiality, and aesthetic elements that tell each project's unique story
  • Ensure project teams consistently meet projected milestones while maintaining design quality
  • Follow projects through approval processes and conduct periodic on-site observations during installation of interior finishes and materials
  • Exercise sound professional judgment in areas of contractual liability and project risk management
  • Deliver confident, compelling presentations to clients, consultants, and external stakeholders
  • Participate in business development, marketing activities, and maintenance of client databases as needed
  • Contribute to training programs that enhance understanding of the firm's core markets and design philosophy
  • Build, mentor, and inspire interior design staff, fostering a culture of growth, knowledge sharing, and excellence

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or equivalent 
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in interiors 
  • Demonstrated creativity and design excellence with particular strength in hospitality and multifamily interiors
  • Comprehensive knowledge and proven experience in the projects/property development industry sector
  • Exceptional leadership abilities and sophisticated communication skills for both team collaboration and client presentations
  • Meticulous attention to detail across all elements of interior design, including documentation and administration
  • Strong technical proficiency in CAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and SketchUp (Revit proficiency a plus)
  • Self-motivated team player with high initiative and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proven commitment to sustainability and responsible design practices

  • Ability to balance creative vision with budget considerations across projects ranging from accessible to ultra-luxury
