The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to play a key role in our growing practice. This is a hands-on position for an experienced immigration attorney who enjoys handling complex matters, contributing strategic insight, and serving as a resource to colleagues, while maintaining an active caseload.
This role is ideal for an attorney who brings depth of experience, sound judgment, and a steady presence to a busy immigration practice, experienced in habeas corpus petitions, mandamus actions, and federal immigration litigation without requiring formal supervisory management as a primary focus.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a substantive caseload involving complex immigration matters
- Handle family-based, asylum, removal defense, and waiver cases
- Federal Court litigation experience using mandamus and Administrative Procedures Act
- Federal Court Habeas Corpus litigation
- Draft and argue motions for injunctions and stays of removal
- Develop litigation strategy for complex immigration cases
- Review and refine filings, petitions, motions, and correspondence to ensure accuracy and quality
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to support efficient case flow and deadline management
- Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior attorneys and staff as needed
- Assist with calendar oversight to ensure hearings, filings, and deadlines remain on track
- Step in on sensitive or escalated client matters when appropriate
- Contribute to improving case management systems, workflows, and best practices
- Participate in internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
Requirements
What You Bring
- Active Florida Bar license (required)
- J.D. and active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
- Admission to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals with knowledge and experience in filing petitions for review with the Court on immigration related matters
- Minimum of 5 years of immigration law experience in a multi-attorney or high-volume practice
- Strong command of family-based, asylum, removal defense, and waiver matters
- Admission to at least one Florida U.S. District Court (required)
- Federal litigation experience (3+ years preferred)
- Federal Habeas Corpus litigation experience 3+ years (required)
- Strong legal writing and courtroom advocacy skills
- Experience with detained cases and removal defense strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear, confident communication skills with clients and colleagues
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage complex matters independently
- A calm, solutions-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Experience supporting or mentoring less experienced attorneys
- Proficiency with cloud-based immigration case management systems
- Interest in contributing to firm growth, systems improvement, and team development
- Experience challenging prolonged detention or agency delay
