Job Summary
The Technical Lead for Functional Safety O&M within the Autonomous Operations Business will report to the Technical Director of Functional Safety, Autonomous Operations, AMERICAS. This role involves leading aspects of Autonomous Operations within focused industries and specific discipline areas. The position includes managing a team of technical resources with Functional Safety expertise in autonomous operations and automated projects with an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) focus throughout the Americas. The Technical Lead will be responsible for the management and execution of projects within the operational area, leading skilled delivery teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This full-time hybrid position is based in Houston, Texas, or Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Support Regional leadership and Digital COE to adopt and deploy our Functional Safety vision and strategy in key markets.
- Play a key role in developing a Functional Safety Center of Excellence within the marketplace by building and marketing best practices, gaining industry recognition, and building key customer partnerships.
- Manage a team with a focus on strong technical expertise and quality for project delivery excellence.
- Collaborate and develop integrated offerings with clients, particularly in O&M.
- Deliver short to mid-term complex digital customer engagements, involving user requirements, solutioning, implementation, change management, and value realization.
- Lead and manage teams of varying sizes, including full-time employees, contractors, and global workshare teams, to successfully execute projects.
- Navigate client decision-making processes, interact with decision-makers and influencers, and oversee proposal and contract preparations.
- Assist with sales pursuits, including sales meetings, RFP responses, and short engagements designed to frame client problem statements and develop client relationships.
- Strive for continuous improvement in all aspects and seek opportunities to digitally enable practice operations.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in delivering projects involving Advanced Automation technologies in Functional Safety.
- Exida (CFSE), TUV, or similar Functional Safety certification preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Chemical, Electronics, Mechanical, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Project management experience with a focus on performance improvement and operations preferred.
- Experience in facilitating workshops, client discovery meetings, and strategic advisory/consulting with clients. Alarm Rationalization/Management experience is highly preferred.
- Driven, high-energy, presence/gravitas, intelligent yet practical, people-oriented.
- Demonstrable experience with selling through networking.
- Excellent analytical and research skills, attention to detail, and intellectual rigor.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Able to interact at any level of a client organization, including Executives and Staff.
- Innovative, flexible, and decisive thinker.
- Keeps informed on technological developments with a keen sense of when evolving technology is ready for scale implementation.
- Willing to travel an average of 35-50%.
