Job Description

Mechanical Systems Engineering is looking for a civil engineer to join its multi-disciplinary team of engineers to work collaboratively to support preventative maintenance, emergent repairs and renovation projects for systems and facility infrastructure located at our Niskayuna Site. Typical projects include civil and structural evaluations in support of road building, underground utilities, and roof repairs; supporting the identification of utilities for evacuations; engineering support of recapitalization projects, including concept designs, evaluations, contract documents, construction cost estimates, and project follow; and maintenance and operations support of emergent issues.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

•    6+ years of experience performing tasks as a civil engineer from concept design through construction closeout, specifications, calculations, trouble shooting, and cost estimates
•    EIT certificate and/or PE License
•    Engineering consulting experience
•    In depth working knowledge or relevant federal and state engineering codes
•    Structural analysis of steel and concrete
•    Inspection and assessment of existing structures (e.g., building roofing and siding, and underground utilities
•    Construction inspection experience
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Proficient in technical writing

Pay Range

$94,800.00 - $148,200.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
