Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Senior Environmental Auditor in (Rogers Park) Chicago, IL. The work will be done onsite. This is a permanent opportunity with a compensation of up to $160k/yr (base + pay) depending on experience. Additionally, this position includes and annual employee stock option plan contribution, plus full benefits including vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), holiday pay, and four weeks of PTO.
About the Role
This is a senior-level environmental compliance and auditing role supporting a busy manufacturing operation in Chicago. The internal EHS lead is currently covering too many responsibilities, and this position is being opened to take full ownership of auditing, regulatory programs, and ISO 14001 compliance. You'll inherit existing processes but will be expected to audit, maintain, and improve all aspects of environmental compliance at the site.
The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of environmental permitting, waste management, wastewater discharge, hazardous waste regulations, and the Chicago/Illinois regulatory landscape. This is a high-impact position with visibility across leadership and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and maintain the sites ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS)
Conduct internal environmental audits, track corrective actions, and prepare reports
Oversee hazardous waste compliance, including labeling, vendor coordination, and inspections
Manage wastewater discharge permitting and compliance
Coordinate with regulatory agencies (IEPA, City of Chicago) for inspections and reporting
Maintain site-wide environmental documentation, including SOPs and compliance logs
Monitor regulatory changes and adjust site programs as needed
Develop and deliver training on environmental policies and procedures
Collaborate with operations, facilities, and corporate teams on environmental improvements
Launch and maintain site-wide environmental improvement initiatives and refresh outdated programs
Qualifications
510+ years of experience in environmental compliance, auditing, or permitting
Strong experience with ISO 14001 EMS program management
Hands-on knowledge of hazardous waste, wastewater, and air/water permitting
Familiarity with Chicago and Illinois environmental regulations
Proven ability to own and drive environmental programs independently
Strong communication, audit prep, and regulatory liaison skills
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
Environmental certifications (e.g., RCRA, ISO 14001 Auditor) are a plus
