Position Summary

Upchurch Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Energy Engineer to support the development and execution of ESPC projects. This role is critical in identifying energy conservation opportunities, performing technical analyses, and supporting project implementation from audit through measurement & verification (M&V). We're looking for an individual who bring a solid understanding of building systems, and experience in performance contracting or energy engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct energy audits (ASHRAE Level I–III) for commercial, institutional, and government facilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and quantify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs)

  • Perform energy modeling and savings calculations using industry-standard tools

  • Support development of ESPC proposals, including technical scope and financial analysis

  • Assist in preparing investment-grade audits (IGAs) and technical reports

  • Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and subcontractors during implementation

  • Support Measurement & Verification (M&V) activities in accordance with IPMVP standards

  • Analyze utility data and develop baseline energy consumption models

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local energy regulations and ESPC requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or related field

  • 2–5+ years of experience in energy engineering, ESCO, or performance contracting (preferred)

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting systems, building automation systems, and central plants

  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., eQUEST, EnergyPlus, TRACE, or similar)

  • Familiarity with ESPC processes, federal guidelines, and M&V protocols (IPMVP) is highly desirable

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and technical reporting\

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • LEED Accreditation
