Job Summary
Our Client is seeking a Senior FPGA Electrical Engineer to support the development of advanced tactical communication systems. This role focuses on FPGA-based digital design and verification, working within cross-functional engineering teams to architect, implement, and validate complex modem and signal processing solutions in programmable logic devices.
Position Impact
This position plays a critical role in delivering high-performance, mission-ready communication technologies by designing and verifying FPGA firmware that supports secure, reliable signal processing in demanding operational environments.
As a Senior FPGA Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
FPGA Design & Architecture
Analyze system requirements and architect FPGA-based digital processing solutions.
Implement complex modem and DSP algorithms in FPGA or ASIC environments.
Develop RTL designs using VHDL (or Verilog).
Integrate FPGA firmware onto hardware platforms.
Verification & Validation
Develop self-checking test benches using SystemVerilog.
Create detailed verification plans aligned with system specifications.
Perform design validation, trade studies, and performance analysis.
Support integration, test, and system-level verification activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to refine requirements and implement solutions.
Present technical reviews and status briefings to internal stakeholders.
Support lifecycle phases including design, test, operation, and sustainment.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 7+ years of FPGA or ASIC development experience in embedded systems.
Strong experience with RTL development using VHDL or Verilog.
Experience with FPGA verification methodologies using SystemVerilog.
Experience implementing and verifying complex digital signal processing or modem-based systems.
Familiarity with vendor-specific FPGA implementation tools (e.g., Vivado, Quartus, Libero).
Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DSP modeling tools such as MATLAB or Simulink.
Knowledge of communication system signal processing theory and waveform design.
Experience with scripting languages such as TCL or Python.
Familiarity with UVM and FPGA verification tools (e.g., Questa).
Experience in RF modem design and testing environments.
Active U.S. security clearance.
Experience with source control tools such as Git or SVN.
