The Senior Director, Core Data Center Services Data & Insights is accountable for the strategy, stewardship, and operational excellence of data and insights that power CDS (Core Datacenter Services) execution across the global data center portfolio. This role establishes clear ownership, consistency, and reliability of critical operational, capacity, lifecycle, and performance data that today spans multiple teams, tools, and systems.
The Senior Director builds and leads a dedicated organization responsible for bringing together disparate data domains, defining authoritative sources, and delivering trusted, decision-ready insights for executive leadership, engineering, operations, and planning partners. This role operates at the intersection of infrastructure operations, analytics, governance, and business decision-making, enabling CO+I to scale with clarity, speed, and accountability.

Responsibilities
Data Ownership & Accountability
- Establish end-to-end accountability for CDS data domains, ensuring clear ownership, stewardship, and quality standards across operational, capacity, financial, lifecycle, and risk data.
- Assume responsibility for data that is currently produced and maintained across multiple teams, aligning it under a cohesive operating model with defined roles, standards, and expectations.
- Define and maintain authoritative data sources and reduce ambiguity in metrics, definitions, and reporting used for executive decision-making.
Data Strategy & Operating Model
- Set the long-term vision and roadmap for how CDS data is collected, governed, integrated, and consumed.
- Design scalable operating models that enable consistent data management while supporting evolving business needs.
- Partner with engineering and platform teams to influence data architecture, tooling, and automation in support of reliability and scale.
Insights, Reporting & Decision Enablement
- Lead the delivery of high-impact insights, dashboards, and narratives that inform CO+I and CDS leadership on performance, risk, capacity, cost, and execution health.
- Ensure data products are accurate, timely, and decision-oriented, enabling leaders to move quickly with confidence.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, executive-ready perspectives that drive prioritization and tradeoff decisions.
Governance, Quality & Trust
- Establish strong data governance, quality controls, and validation mechanisms to ensure trust and consistency across all CDS reporting.
- Drive alignment on common definitions, KPIs, and success measures across global teams.
- Ensure data practices align with security, compliance, and privacy requirements across regions and environments.
Leadership & Organization Management
- Build and lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary organization spanning data engineering, analytics, program management, and business insights.
- Develop leadership capability and technical depth within the team, fostering a culture of ownership, rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear rhythms of business that connect data delivery to operational execution and strategic planning.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as a trusted partner to Core Data Center Services, Azure engineering, capacity planning, finance, and operations leaders.
- Influence upstream processes to improve data quality at the source, reducing downstream friction and rework
- Represent CDS data and insights perspectives in executive forums and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data, analytics, business operations, or large-scale technical environments OR Bachelors Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data, analytics, business operations, or large-scale technical environments OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years people management experience in global organizations with accountability for complex, cross-functional outcomes.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 12+ years experience in data, analytics, business operations, or large-scale technical environments OR Bachelors Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 15+ years experience in data, analytics, business operations, or large-scale technical environments OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years people management experience in global organizations with accountability for complex, cross-functional outcomes.
- Experience supporting hyperscale infrastructure, cloud operations, or data center environments.
- Strong understanding of data platforms, BI tools, and analytics ecosystems used at enterprise scale.
- Background in business operations, finance, or operational analytics.
Data Analytics M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.
