SENIOR DESIGNER

As a Senior Designer at ROSSETTI, you will support large and complex projects in terms of developing the design and oversight of project teams, and may lead some medium/large scale projects, with a focus on sports, hospitality, and corporate facilities. At the same time, you will be a part of the rebirth of Detroit at our dynamic office in the heart of downtown Detroit.

The Senior Designer at ROSSETTI is an experienced project designer with responsibility for initiating design concepts and leading design development for one or more large or complex projects. This individual can work independently within a project team and/or can lead the design/discipline team. The Senior Designer demonstrates strong leadership skills with effective assertiveness, creativity and fairness. This individual is dedicated to ensuring project success in a manner consistent with firm-wide standards for project delivery, by working closely with the Project Manager and/or Design Lead.

  • Creates and develops overall design concepts; formulates design presentation strategies and makes presentations
  • Develops innovative design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe and conducive to intended purposes and function, reflective of client goals and within project budget
  • Has experience with coordinating construction documents and specifications indicating the full design intent, and producing complete sets of construction documents
  • Can leads a major portion of a larger project, or functions effectively in the role of Design Lead on mid to large size projects
  • Defines program requirements and establishes design parameters based on client requirements and working with project architect/project manager 
  • Participates directly in program development, as well as conceptual and schematic design, including space planning, layout, utilization of equipment, lighting specifications, color coordination
  • Uses strong graphic and verbal presentation skills, including hand sketching, to convey design direction 
  • Has a strong knowledge of finishes, materials, products, vendors and specifications.
  • Understands zoning codes, building codes, accessibility requirements (ADA) and construction techniques.
  • Is responsible for and participates in selections of equipment, furniture, lighting, finishes, flooring, where applicable
  • Has a strong understanding of all aspects of construction documentation, review and coordination, as well as all aspects of construction administration

  • Solicits bids and assists Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation and arrangement of materials, finishes and furnishings required
  • Collaborates, delegates with and mentors less experienced staff

  • Will monitor project efforts and schedule as related to completion of design/discipline team efforts; uses proper planning, production and coordination of construction documentation, specification development and construction administration procedures
  • Participates in QC through design, code and document reviews to ensure constructability, code compliance, minimum deliverables and document organization
  •  Is a motivated self-starter with the ability to problem solve both individually and as part of a project team
  • Actively pursuing or has completed ARE/NCIDQ/AICP for professional licensure/certification preferred.
  • Can fully lead discipline/project thru all Construction Admin activities
  • Can design and develop details for all interior/exterior/vertical circulation systems for renovation and new construction.
  • Oversees all aspects of project document control

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree for one or more: Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design or related field from an accredited program, or foreign equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Revit and AutoCAD, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong 3-D computer rendering skills (Sketchup, 3-D Max, Rhino, VRay, Lumion, Enscape)
  • Computational design (Dynamo/Grasshopper) experience preferred
  • Certification/state licensure/LEED accreditation preferred
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. (documentation as requested).
