The Senior Data Architect is responsible for designing, evolving, and supporting a scalable data ecosystem that enables enterprise-wide analytics and reporting. This role establishes and promotes best practices for data design, modeling, and governance while ensuring alignment across multiple technical teams.
Working closely with data engineering, analytics, and governance functions, this position ensures consistency in how data is structured, managed, and consumed. The role also partners with broader technology teams to strengthen data reliability, improve data quality, and support long-term data strategy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable data frameworks that support both operational and analytical use cases
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, ensuring consistency across systems and platforms
- Evaluate and recommend technologies to enhance data architecture and management capabilities
- Contribute to proof-of-concept efforts and early-stage solution design
- Develop and maintain clear documentation for data structures, standards, and processes
- Continuously refine architectural approaches to align with evolving technologies and best practices
- Stay informed on emerging trends and propose innovative solutions to improve data capabilities
- Analyze and interpret data from diverse sources to support business needs
- Promote and uphold data quality and governance principles across the data environment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, analysts, and application developers
- Support globally distributed teams in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
- Participate in design and architecture reviews to ensure alignment and reduce implementation risks
- Follow established documentation and change management procedures
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or analytical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Extensive experience (10+ years) working with large-scale data platforms, analytics solutions, or information management systems
- Strong background (6+ years) in designing and implementing cloud-based data architectures, including data pipelines, warehouses, and distributed data systems
- Advanced SQL expertise with experience developing database objects such as procedures, functions, and views
- Hands-on experience building and orchestrating data workflows using programming languages such as Python and workflow orchestration tools
- Experience with modern database and data warehouse platforms (e.g., relational and distributed systems)
- Proven experience working within cloud environments (e.g., major public cloud providers)
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently and proactively in ambiguous environments
- Solid understanding of agile development methodologies and practices
- Knowledge of data modeling, data mining, and analytical techniques
- Experience in consumer-facing or multi-location business models is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with experience engaging stakeholders at multiple levels
