Position Overview
Ganem Companies is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant to join our growing team in Phoenix. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in construction accounting, multi-entity financial management, and Sage 300 (Timberline).
The Senior Construction Accountant will play a key role in managing the full accounting cycle for multiple entities within an $80-$100M annual construction organization operating across multiple states. This individual will work closely with leadership and report to senior finance leadership, with the opportunity to grow into Controller or Assistant Controller responsibilities.
We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, understands job cost accounting, and can maintain accuracy across multiple entities and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting cycle including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and states.
- Perform construction job cost accounting and ensure proper cost allocation and project financial tracking.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Work closely with project management teams to ensure accurate project financial reporting and job cost tracking.
- Support year-end audit preparation and tax reporting.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Assist leadership with financial reporting and analysis related to company performance.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry
- Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing
- Experience with Sage 300 / Timberline
- Experience managing accounting across multiple entities
- Strong knowledge of the full accounting cycle
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in companies with $50M+ annual revenue
- Background supporting or working alongside a Controller or Assistant Controller
- Experience in multi-state construction accounting
- CPA or CPA track is a plus but not required
