Job Title: Senior Machinist

Senior CNC Machinist

Objective

Operate CNC horizontal/vertical machining centers and lathes to machine parts to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and setup requirements
  • Calculate speeds, feeds, coolant flow, cutting depths and angles
  • Program and edit CNC machine controls
  • Set up new jobs and repeat jobs without supervision
  • Load/unload parts and inspect finished work to specifications
  • Operate machining centers and lathes (Mazak, Daewoo, Fadal, Haas, Puma brands)
  • Perform turning, boring, drilling, tapping, thread-milling, profiling, and contouring operations
  • Adjust machine settings to compensate for tool wear
  • Take in-process measurements and maintain statistical process control
  • Use inspection tools and coordinate measuring machines
  • Perform daily machine maintenance and preventative maintenance
  • Identify design errors and recommend corrections
  • Train other employees on equipment and processes

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma plus vo-tech training OR 10+ years machining experience
  • Journeyman or NIMS certification preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • CNC programming and editing
  • Machine tool operating procedures
  • Algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Blueprint reading
  • Machining of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and plastics
