Senior Bus Driver

The Charter Township of Shelby Parks, Recreation & Maintenance Department is now accepting applications for a Part-Time Senior Bus Driver.

This position is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation services to senior residents, ensuring passenger safety, and supporting daily senior transportation operations. Applicants must be available to work approximately 8-16 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Compensation: Hourly wage starting at $19.83 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Essential Job Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Inspect bus prior to use each day to ensure proper operating condition
• Report any vehicle problems or maintenance concerns to the appropriate personnel
• Maintain and complete daily log sheets accurately
• Prepare incident and accident reports when necessary
• Provide transportation services according to established daily schedules
• Assist in the office during downtime as needed
• Fuel bus as required
• Conduct end-of-day bus inspections

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• A valid CDL or Chauffer's License is required at time of application
• Ability to pass a background check and driving record review
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening
• Ability to lift and assist passengers as needed
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with senior citizens in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to safely operate a passenger bus.
