Senior Backup & Recovery Administrator (Cohesity & Veeam)

Job Description : 

Backup & Recovery Architecture:-

  • Design and implement enterprise backup, recovery, and archival solutions using Cohesity and Veeam.
  • Develop scalable architectures for on premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Evaluate current backup strategies and recommend improvements aligned with industry best practices.

Operations & Administration:-

  • Manage day to day backup operations, including job configuration, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform installation, upgrades, patching, and configuration of Cohesity and Veeam platforms.
  • Ensure backup success rates, SLA adherence, and timely resolution of incidents.

Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:-

  • Develop and maintain DR runbooks, workflows, and recovery procedures.
  • Conduct periodic DR drills, failover testing, and validation of RPO/RTO objectives.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure end to end recoverability.

Performance Optimization & Automation:-

  • Optimize backup performance, storage utilization, and data retention policies.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using PowerShell, Python, or API based integrations.
  • Implement monitoring dashboards and reporting for capacity, performance, and compliance.

Security & Compliance:-

  • Ensure backup environments meet security, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Implement encryption, immutability, air gapped backups, and ransomware resilient architectures.

Collaboration & SME Leadership:-

  • Act as the primary SME for Cohesity and Veeam technologies.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to operations teams.
  • Work closely with vendors, engineering teams, and stakeholders to support strategic initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:-

  • 6–10+ years of experience in enterprise backup and recovery technologies.
  • Strong hands on expertise with:
  • Cohesity DataProtect, DataPlatform, SmartFiles
  • Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam ONE, Veeam Cloud Connect
  • Experience with backup installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of:
  • VMware, Hyper V, and physical server backups
  • NAS, SAN, and object storage
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Windows and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of DR strategies, replication technologies, and snapshot based backups.
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python) is a strong advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:-

  • Cohesity or Veeam certifications (e.g., Veeam VMCE, Cohesity Practitioner/Architect).
  • Experience in large scale, multi-site enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management tools.

Soft Skills:-

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
