At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As a Senior Systems Engineer on the New Glenn Systems Engineering Integration and Test team, you will be part of a hardworking team of engineers, applying broad multidisciplinary engineering (mechanical, structural, fluids, electrical/electronic, and software) knowledge and skills to create processes and procedures for the development, implementation, certification, and sustainment of the New Glenn launch system.

This role requires a deep understanding of requirements definition, verification and validation, functional analysis, modeling and simulation, system safety analysis, technical measures, and specialty engineering (e.g., operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability), as well as other systems engineering lifecycle processes. You will support the alignment and consistent implementation of New Glenn systems engineering practices from the system level through lower-level program tiers, as well as across program systems. You will help develop metrics to provide insight into program health and track progress toward major milestones which you will help lead and support.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Lead projects to develop and implement system engineering processes and software tools.

Lead operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives for the systems engineering function

Utilize and develop system engineering processes, ensure consistent and high-quality implementation across the program, and serve in a systems integration capacity working with multidisciplinary teams to create technical solutions

Work across vehicle stages and subsystems to support integrated launch system design, build, certification, and sustainment.

Support the alignment and standardized implementation of New Glenn system engineering practices for multiple system levels as well as across different vehicles and subsystems

Develop metrics to monitor overall quality and schedule performance of engineering development to proactively identify potential issues and appropriate mitigations in support of major milestones and program-level reviews

Support the development, allocation, verification of requirements at all levels of the program using requirements management tools like DOORS Next Gen and other product lifecycle management tools.

Perform at a high-level in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or a related technical field.

10+ years of proven engineering experience.

2+ years of experience managing or leading an engineering team.

Proven experience with launch vehicles or largescale aerospace programs.

Demonstrated experience with end-to-end aerospace design and development lifecycle from concept through test and certification.

Experience improving and streamlining processes and engineering tools to support development of complex systems.

Experience in at least one focused subject area, such as mechanical, fluids, thermal, propulsion, avionics or electrical hardware and/or software, telemetry/communications, structures, ground operations, or flight and ground autonomy.

Experience in at least one of the areas of analysis, design, or testing.

Knowledge of requirements validation and traceability, functional analysis, architecture definition, safety analysis, approaches to specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability, producibility), and other systems engineering lifecycle processes.

Experience with configuration management and change management processes.

Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS Next Gen (DNG) or Jama.

Strong strategic systems thinking skills; excellent written and oral communication; proactive in moving the program forward through team collaboration to achieve timely decisions; ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a collaborative culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Working knowledge and experience applying systems engineering standards and methods (e.g., ISO/IEEE, NASA, INCOSE, SAE).

Working knowledge of Python or other scripting languages.

Experience leveraging AI tools and large language models (LLMs) in engineering workflows.

Experience managing multiple configuration baselines and variants across design maturity phases (functional/allocated/product).

Experience with ModelBased Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Working knowledge of system safety processes (e.g., hazard tracking, FMECA, 14 CFR Part 450) and experience developing faulttolerant systems.

Working knowledge and experience in using continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.)
