Location: San Rafael, CA (Hybrid – onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Hours/Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
Compensation: $90-100/hour DOQ
Type: 6 month contract
Overview
The Senior Accounts Payable Manager provides interim leadership and operational oversight of the Accounts Payable function during a critical transition period. This role ensures continuity of vendor payments, stabilizes accounts payable processes, and reduces reliance on manual workarounds. The position partners closely with Finance, Treasury, IT, and external vendors to maintain efficient, compliant, and reliable payment operations.
Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day Accounts Payable operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and vendor payments.
Provide leadership and direction to the AP team, setting priorities, resolving operational issues, and maintaining workflow continuity.
Manage high-volume invoice processing, payment cycles, and exception handling to ensure business continuity.
Partner with Finance, Treasury, and IT teams to resolve system or process issues affecting AP operations.
Address urgent payment requests, escalations, and vendor inquiries in a timely and structured manner.
Stabilize AP workflows by identifying manual dependencies and implementing sustainable process improvements.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and financial governance policies.
Communicate operational performance, risks, and dependencies to finance leadership and key stakeholders.
Document AP processes and procedures to support knowledge transfer and operational continuity after the engagement.
Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable leadership, accounting operations, or financial process management.
Demonstrated experience managing high-volume invoice processing and payment operations.
Management experience leading and developing AP teams.
Strong knowledge of internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial governance practices.
Experience partnering with Finance, Treasury, and IT teams to resolve operational and system-related challenges.
Hands-on experience with SAP and Ariba in accounts payable environments (must be clearly reflected on resume).
Experience working in mid-to-large corporate environments with complex financial operations.
Ability to quickly assess operational challenges, implement improvements, and drive execution in fast-paced environments.
