We are currently seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and experienced Permanent Senior Accountant specializing in Payroll for our rapidly expanding construction business. This role is integral to our financial department and will contribute significantly to our continued success. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling various aspects of payroll accounting, including reconciliations, month-end close, journal entries, union payroll, job costing, billing, and variance analysis. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Senior Accountant: Payroll, you will have the following responsibilities:
1. Oversee the payroll process for the organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
2. Perform reconciliations of payroll accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of entries.
3. Handle month-end close procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
4. Manage union payroll, ensuring that all union rules and regulations are adhered to in the payroll process.
5. Perform job costing, allocating labor and materials costs to appropriate projects, and ensuring accurate and timely billing.
6. Manage the billing process, ensuring that all invoices are accurate and sent out in a timely manner.
7. Conduct variance analysis, identifying any discrepancies between actual and budgeted costs, and providing explanations for variances.
8. Collaborate with other members of the financial team to ensure a cohesive and efficient financial operation.
9. Ensure all payroll-related transactions are recorded correctly and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Senior Accountant: Payroll position should have the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
2. Proficiency in reconciliations, month-end close procedures, and journal entries.
3. Experience in managing union payroll, with a thorough understanding of union rules and regulations.
4. Expertise in job costing and billing processes.
5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies.
6. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial personnel.
7. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
8. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
9. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors and discrepancies in financial data.
10. Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
11. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll-related issues.
