Job Details

Position Title: Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager (Dealership Experience Highly Preferred)
Location: Texas (Onsite; Dallas-area candidates encouraged due to planned expansion / $5000 sign on bonus to assist with relocation costs)
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced accounting professional with dealership experience to take full ownership of the accounting function and remove day-to-day accounting oversight from executive leadership. This role requires someone who understands the operational flow of a dealership environment — from Sales → Finance → Accounting → Service — and can step in with confidence from day one.

The ideal candidate has prior experience working within a Dealership Management System (DMS) environment (experience with IDS / Astra G2 strongly preferred) and understands how transactions move through dealership operations and impact financial reporting.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused heavily on month-end close, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and sales tax compliance (Texas).

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Leadership & Oversight:.

Take full ownership of the monthly close process.

Perform and review account reconciliations with strong attention to detail.

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.

Troubleshoot discrepancies and resolve integration or posting issues within the DMS.

Ensure accounting processes align with dealership operational flow.

Operational Accounting:

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations while a staff member handles transactional AP/AR.

Provide review and guidance over transactional work.

Ensure accuracy in general ledger activity and reporting.

Improve accounting workflows and internal controls.

Sales Tax & Compliance:

Manage and ensure compliance with Texas sales tax regulations.

Review and oversee preparation of sales tax filings.

Research and resolve sales tax questions as needed.

Systems & Process:

Work within IDS / Astra G2 (or similar DMS platforms).

Leverage prior DMS experience to understand how sales, finance, and service transactions integrate into accounting.

Assist with system optimization following recent DMS conversion.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Prior dealership accounting experience (highly preferred).

Experience working in a Dealership Management System (DMS) environment.

Strong understanding of the dealership transaction lifecycle.

Proven ability to perform detailed account reconciliations.

Experience preparing financial statements independently.

Hands-on Texas sales tax experience (required).

Audit background strongly preferred (audit-trained mindset with independent ownership).

High sense of urgency and strong follow-through.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Comfortable operating autonomously and taking initiative.

Direct report experience is a plus but not required.

Work Environment:

Onsite role within Texas.

Fully remote is not an option at this time.

Potential future opportunity for Dallas-area presence as the organization expands.

What Success Looks Like:

Accurate and timely month-end close.

Clean reconciliations with minimal oversight required.

Reliable financial statements leadership can confidently use for planning and strategy.

Proactive troubleshooting of operational accounting issues.

Strong ownership and urgency in driving accounting excellence.
