Our client, a well-established and growing organization in the Kalamazoo area, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role offers strong exposure to leadership, ownership of key accounting functions, and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and strategic initiatives.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the general ledger, leading the month-end close process, and supporting financial reporting. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments

• Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

• Prepare internal financial statements and supporting schedules

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes

• Support external audit requests and coordinate with auditors

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls

• Analyze financial data and provide insights to leadership

• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• 3–6+ years of accounting experience

• Strong understanding of GAAP

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
