About the Role

 

The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the integrity of our financial operations. This position is responsible for key month-end and year-end close activities, financial analysis, and reporting, while also helping modernize and improve accounting processes within a strong internal controls environment.

Position Overview

 

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, and ongoing process transformation within KARL STORZ North America. This role supports continuous improvement efforts, ensures compliance with internal controls, and partners closely with business operations to enhance end‑to‑end processes.

The Senior Accountant will also serve as the Accounting Lead for a KARL STORZ North America legal entity, acting as the primary point of contact for business partners. Responsibilities include reviewing financial results, preparing executive-level commentary, and presenting financial insights to management.


 

Key Responsibilities

 

Core Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Complete account reconciliations; research and resolve variances.
  • Produce high‑quality financial analyses and management commentary.
  • Prepare and distribute recurring deliverables and reporting packages.
  • Provide supporting documentation during external audits.

 

Process Transformation & Controls

  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key accounting activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform GAAP research and prepare technical accounting memos.
  • Leverage available tools and technologies to improve accounting processes.

 

Leadership & Cross‑Functional Support

  • Serve as the Accounting Lead for a designated legal entity, partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
  • Present financial results and key drivers to business leaders and executives.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and training to Staff Accountants.
  • Lead and support various accounting and shared-service transformation projects.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
    • (Minimum 2+ years of public accounting strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and general ledger processes
  • Solid grasp of accounting principles and GAAP
  • Demonstrated history of implementing process improvements
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and act on complex data
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP
  • Audit experience (public or internal)
  • Experience using Tableau or other BI tools
  • Exposure to or interest in AI-driven accounting tools
