Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Edison, NJ, 08837

Duration: 6-Month Contract
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $ 45.00 - $50.00/hr On W2

Job Summary:

  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reviewing financial statements while ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational accounting standards. This role supports month-end close, reconciliations, budgeting, audit preparation, and general accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience working in complex accounting environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and account analysis.
  • Prepare journal entries and support month-end close activities.
  • Ensure accuracy of account balances and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Research and resolve complex accounting discrepancies.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for balance sheets and P&L statements.
  • Prepare and upload annual budgets and perform budget analysis.
  • Monitor vendor statements and accounts payable accuracy.
  • Maintain vendor master file and ensure data integrity.
  • Assist with audit preparation and support internal/external auditors.
  • Maintain cash records and track transfers between accounts.
  • Prepare monthly close calendar and communicate deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with financial institutions, auditors, and stakeholders.
  • Identify internal control weaknesses and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional accounting activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Minimum 4 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP principles.
  • Experience with general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare or hospital accounting experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as PeopleSoft or Lawson.
  • Treasury or debt management experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace skills.

 Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead accounting tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 5 lbs., and stand for short periods as needed.
