Senior Accountant

Cox Consulting Network has been retained by an established, growing, privately held company with an excellent corporate culture in its search for a Senior Accountant.  The position is hybrid (with ~two days/week in office) and is based in Austin, TX 

OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller for this Austin headquartered company.  The Senior Accountant will be responsible for accounting for programs and reinsurance, including reconciliations to General Ledger, and providing additional breakdown of program data and various reports to senior leadership. 

The ideal candidate will have general ledger accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and be a collaborative team leader.  This is a great position for anyone looking for a company to learn and grow with.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs monthly accounting (by state) for various aspects (written premium, earned premium, fees & surcharges, claims paid, reserves and deductibles, XOL reinsurance, and Quota Shares) programs, including updating multiple spreadsheets, performing reconciliations, posting journal entries, initiating check requests and producing monthly remittance files.  This also includes communication with, and remittance to TPA.
  
• Reconciles various asset accounts
  
• Prepare monthly data for all applicable lines of business and programs in Schedule P format
  
• Prepares various schedules for Quarterly and Annual Statement filings.
  
• Maintains files for all work mentioned above.
  
• Assists in preparation and gathering of various reports for annual audit. 
  

Requirements

• BA in Accounting
  
• 3 -5 years of experience in Accounting, preferably full-cycle
  
• Experience with month-end closing
  
• Insurance industry experience is a plus but not required
  
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access database skills
  
• Must have strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  
• Effective interpersonal skills along with excellent problem-solving skills
