Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements
Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month-end closing procedures with precision
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections
Conduct bank reconciliations and oversee cash flow analysis to support financial planning
Assist with internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and audit preparations
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to guide strategic decision-making
Maintain accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger management using accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving corporate accounting, governmental reporting, or non-profit accounting standards
Contribute to the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure adherence to securities law where applicable
Mentor junior team members on technical accounting concepts like double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial report writing
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; pursuing CPA designation or equivalent is preferred but not required
Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting environments with a focus on financial statement preparation and account reconciliation
Strong understanding of GAAP, SOX compliance standards, and technical accounting principles
Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar tools; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential
Knowledge of non-profit accounting practices and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is a plus
Familiarity with securities law and regulatory reporting requirements for public entities or private equity firms is advantageous
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately
Effective communication skills for financial report writing and interpretation; mentoring capabilities are a bonus
