Position Overview:
SMI Security is currently hiring 6 professional and reliable Security Guards for assignments at Port Everglades. This role is critical in maintaining the safety, security, and operational flow of one of South Florida’s busiest port facilities.
We are seeking candidates who are alert, customer-service oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic outdoor environment. This position requires strict adherence to port security regulations and procedures.
Pay & Schedule:
Overnight Shift:
- 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (8-hour shifts within this window).
- $16.50 per hour.
Day Shift (Bilingual Required - English/Spanish):
- Shift windows between 4:00 AM - 5:00 PM and 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM.
- (8-hour shifts scheduled within these timeframes).
- $19.00 per hour.
Schedule Details:
- Full-time hours.
- Must be flexible and available any day of the week.
- Rotating schedules may apply.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and secure assigned areas within Port Everglades.
- Control access points by verifying credentials, TWIC cards, and identification.
- Enforce port security rules, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct routine patrols to detect and deter unauthorized activity.
- Observe and report suspicious behavior, incidents, or safety hazards.
- Provide excellent customer service to port personnel, drivers, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate logs, reports, and documentation of daily activities.
- Respond promptly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies following established procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, port authorities, and team members.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid and active Florida Class D Security License.
- Must hold a valid and active TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required for daytime positions.
- Must have strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain alert, professional, and responsive at all times.
- Must be flexible with scheduling, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, etc.).
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-traffic environment.
- Ability to maintain awareness and vigilance throughout the shift.
