Job Title: Security Officer
First Shift full time
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Security, or their designee, enforces hospital regulations, provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees. This position requires knowledge and skill in dealing with customers ranging from infancy to death.
The Security Officer may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.:
Job Description:
- Enforce policies and regulations through active monitoring and patrolling of Baptist property.
- Investigate complaints of potential criminal and non-criminal conduct, assist in restraining of patients as permitted and provide protective services.
- Officer makes immediate correction of situations, which might contribute, to security or safety problems.
- Responds immediately when called for assistance and attempts to resolve situation and ensures that employees, visitors, and patients are assisted during a crisis.
- Provides escorts for personnel to and from parking areas of building.
- Assists with combative patients, determine need for physical intervention in accordance with Use of Force policy.
- Conduct patrols of campus/hospital utilizing appropriate tools, ensuring all points are checked during each patrol.
- Covers absentee call-in's received during shift.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks in the absence of Engineering staff as directed by Security Supervisory staff.
- Manage control of patient valuables and Lost & Found property and complete all documentation as required.
- Assist Law Enforcement agencies operating at, or in support of, the facility as requested.
- Respond to Alarms (Door Alarms, Infant Abduction Alarms, Panic/Duress Alarms, etc.)
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Kentucky Driver's license and clean driving record.
- Proficient use of technology including computers, software, and mobile technology
- 1-year Security or related experience preferred.
- Ability to successfully achieve Taser certification, successfully complete hand-cuff training.
- Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) preferred.
- BLS Certification within 90 days of hire.
