The City of Kettering is accepting submissions for the position of:
Seasonal Property Maintenance Inspector
 
Pay range $18.75 to $21.30 per hour

Up to 40 hours per week for up to 6 months with a mandatory 6-month break in service

The City of Kettering’s Planning and Development Department is currently seeking a Seasonal Property Maintenance Inspector.

If you would like to serve a vital role in providing services in property maintenance and zoning code enforcement of City Ordinances, we want to hear from you! Bring your tact, sound judgment and problem-solving skills to help keep the City beautiful.

Duties include:

  • Conduct inspections of privately owned properties within the City to determine compliance with the City’s maintenance code;
  • Respond to citizen complaints regarding poor maintenance of properties;
  • Communicate with complainants and property owners;
  • Gather photographic and other evidence of non-compliant codes as required;
  • Prepare and issue Legal Notices of Violations/Orders to initiate compliance;
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records of inspections related to non-compliance;
  • Assist other inspectors and department staff.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand City regulations and convey those requirements clearly and concisely to the general public. They must be able to work both independently and in teams using sound common sense and appropriate tact in the enforcement of code requirements. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years of age or older and possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio driver’s license with a good driving record. Must have experience with basic computer software and have the ability to quickly adapt to changing technology. Must be able to read and understand basic site plans and GIS maps.
