Position Summary:
The Bay Terrace Center (BTC) Pool Club Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of the Bay Terrace Center at Commonpoint. The Pool Club Manager is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the pool club, including supervising staff, overseeing facilities, ensuring safety compliance, and implementing programs.

The Manager works closely with the BTC Senior Director and the two Pool Club Managers to support the pool club's continued growth while ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-organized environment for all members, guests, and staff.

Goals:
  • Maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for members, guests, and staff.
  • Support membership growth and community engagement.
  • Assist in increasing overall revenue through programming and operational management.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient daily operations of the facility.

General Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and supervise all aspects of pool club operations.
  • Oversee staff, members, and guests to ensure a safe and positive environment.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with the BTC Director to develop and implement plans for pool club operations and growth.
  • Manage the facility's daily administration, including staffing, scheduling, and budgeting support.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise seasonal staff, including lifeguards, gate staff, office staff, and maintenance staff.
  • Conduct pre-season, post-season, and in-service staff trainings.
  • Develop staff schedules, routines, and procedures for daily operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate all program and operations staff.
  • Maintain records related to programs, staff performance, and facility operations.
  • Assist in expanding membership through outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate and oversee vendor contracts and ensure compliance with all agreements.
  • Order and manage pool club supplies and equipment, and oversee distribution.
  • Implement and monitor crisis management and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure all NYC Department of Health regulations and other applicable requirements are followed.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and organization through coordination with maintenance staff.
  • Maintain working knowledge of pool operations, including backwashing, chlorination, vacuuming, and general pool cleanliness.
  • Oversee outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to agreed terms.
  • Support a positive environment for members and staff by promoting strong morale and professionalism.

Schedule:
This position begins upon hire and requires flexibility to work various days and hours, including weekends and holidays.

Expected Schedule:
  • April 1- April 30: 4 hours per week (virtual).
  • May 1 – June 25: 10–20 hours per week.
  • June 26 – September 7: 40 hours per week.
  • September 8 – September 20: 8–16 hours per weekend.

Compensation:
Seasonal Salary: $15,000 – $20,000.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
  • Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Minimum of three seasons of pool club experience (management, lifeguarding, or operations).
  • Ability to supervise staff and interact professionally with members and guests.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement programs and operations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk throughout the pool deck and facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment when necessary.
  • Occasional meetings at the Commonpoint Sam Field Center (58-20 Little Neck Parkway, Little Neck, NY, 11362).
