Job Summary:
To pressure test and repair integral fuel cells & perform a variety of finish sealing to include leading edges, cabin windows, windshields, side windows, antennas, engine inlets, wing tip lenses & any other type of finish sealing necessary on the exterior of the aircraft. May be required to assist higher grade Technicians.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plans and performs a variety of certified sealing repair and rework operations. Performs pressure leak tests to determine areas requiring rework and repair. Uses ammonia, water manometer, soap solution and specialized leak detector machines as required.
- Uses manual dexterity and close mental and visual attention according to accepted shop procedures to apply sealer, rework and repair areas which may have been previously fueled. Compliance with standard fuel safety precautions is required.
- Through knowledge of inspection standards, sheet metal assembly and sealing techniques provide proper sealing and assembly sequences to prevent leaks and failure of parts to meet all specifications. Determines if sealer is properly cured and assures finish sealing and any repairs are adequate.
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools, sealing applicators and pressure or leak test equipment.
- Responsible for own work.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification.
Job duties require use of specification sheets, simple arithmetic and measuring instruments. Also requires completion of a two-week Textron Aviation Integral Fuel Cell Sealing Training course after entering role but before being released to the shop floor in ACC.
