Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Agile Scrum Master to lead teams in delivering high-quality solutions through effective Agile practices, stakeholder engagement, and servant leadership. In this role, you will guide sprint and release planning, manage backlogs in collaboration with product owners, and ensure transparency through clear communication of progress, risks, schedules, and budgets. You will coach teams to improve Agile maturity, protect them from external distractions, and foster continuous improvement through retrospectives and performance metrics such as velocity and burn-down charts. Leveraging tools such as Azure DevOps, you will support team performance analysis while promoting best practices across the software development lifecycle. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to drive collaboration, transparency, and successful delivery across IT and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Leadership & Team Facilitation
Coach teams on Scrum, Kanban, and Agile best practices to build delivery maturity
Lead sprint planning, release planning, retrospectives, and daily Agile ceremonies
Shield the team from external distractions while fostering a servant-leadership culture
Defect Management, Debugging & Quality Advocacy
Manage and maintain sprint and product backlogs with the Product Owner and stakeholders
Track velocity, burn-down, and other visual metrics to monitor team performance
Provide clear updates on schedules, budgets, risks, and mitigation strategies
Agile Collaboration, Communication & Continuous Improvement
Build productive stakeholder relationships and ensure transparent communication
Advise teams on using Azure DevOps (ADO) for performance tracking and analysis
Drive process improvements and promote Agile education across IT and business teams

Required Skills:    
Professionally manages stakeholder relationships in a positive and productive manner.
Guides the implementation of Agile practices, ensuring team member and key stakeholder participation. Reports progress to schedules and budgets in a timely and concise manner.
Provides timely and concise updates on progress, schedules, and budgets.
Clearly communicates risks, impacts, and mitigation strategies promptly.
Educates and supports others on business and operational processes.
Proactively improves team standards and processes with a 'can do' attitude.
Advises the delivery team on using Azure DevOps (ADO) for Scrum team performance analysis.
Escalates issues to IT higher management when necessary.
Shields the team from outside distractions and interferences
Develops and manages team release plans and sprint plans.
Monitors, reviews and maintains the sprint backlog and product backlog in coordination with business product owner and other team members.
Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency
Maintains visual progress metrics indicating velocity, burn-down, etc.
Runs retrospectives and drives the team to implement the process improvements identified during those meetings.
Provides all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible
Coaches the team on Agile practices and continues to work with the team to build maturity
Supports the on-going education on Agile across IT and its key stakeholders

Required Skills:
Familiarity with project management methods, including both Waterfall and Agile.
Proficiency with software development management tools, particularly Azure DevOps.
Proven project management expertise.
Outstanding problem-solving abilities.
Skilled in stakeholder and communication management with excellent communication skills.
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Effective leadership, coaching and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated confidence and professionalism in approach.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact proficiently with all levels of management and staff.
Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)

Qualifications:    

Education:    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred CS or business management) or equivalent experience.

Preferred Attributes:

2+ years experience in IT project management, preferably working directly with clients through a full system development lifecycle.
2+ years of experience in Agile Methodologies in the Scrum Master role.
Certification: CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner) certification.
