Overview
Leading biotechnology organization is seeking a Scientist, Antibody Engineering to support early-stage biologics discovery programs. This role is highly hands-on and molecular biology-driven, with a strong emphasis on antibody DNA generation, expression, and functional evaluation. The Scientist will play a key role in advancing antibody candidates through discovery with a clear understanding of how their work contributes to the broader drug development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Design, generate, and engineer antibody DNA constructs using core molecular biology techniques
  • Perform PCR, plasmid preparation, cloning, mutagenesis, and sequence analysis to support antibody generation workflows
  • Express recombinant antibodies and evaluate performance using ELISA and related protein immunoassays
  • Assess antibody function, binding, and developability, focusing on performance-driven evaluation rather than purely descriptive characterization
  • Support antibody optimization efforts across multiple formats (e.g., monoclonal, bispecific)
  • Interpret experimental data within the context of antibody discovery and early drug development goals
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional discovery scientists to advance antibody programs
  • Document experimental methods, results, and conclusions in accordance with internal research standards
Note: This role is not primarily cell based. The core focus is molecular generation, expression, and functional antibody evaluation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science with 2–5 years of relevant experience OR; Master’s degree in a life science with 1–3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong, hands-on experience in molecular biology–driven antibody engineering, including: PCR, Plasmid DNA preparation, Molecular cloning and mutagenesis, Sequence analysis
  • Proven experience performing and interpreting ELISA and protein immunoassays for antibody evaluation
  • Experience with plasmid and sequence analysis software (e.g., SnapGene) and data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Excel)
  • Demonstrated understanding of how antibody engineering work fits into the broader drug discovery and development lifecycle
  • Strong collaboration, documentation, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced research environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Benefits
System One offers eligible employees health and welfare benefits coverage options, including medical, dental, vision, spending accounts, life insurance, voluntary plans, and participation in a 401(k) plan.
