Location: Rockville, MD (Onsite)
Hours/Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $30–$40/hour
Type: Contract (6 months, potential for extension)
Overview
A leading biotechnology company advancing next-generation antibody-based therapeutics is seeking a Scientist / Associate Scientist to join their antibody engineering team. This role focuses on phage display, nanobody/antibody discovery, and bispecific engineering, supporting early-stage oncology programs. This is a highly hands-on opportunity to work on cutting-edge therapeutic platforms in a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the discovery and engineering of nanobodies and antibodies, including bispecific formats
- Perform bio-panning of phage libraries against selected targets to identify lead candidates
- Design, construct, and engineer antibody and nanobody constructs using molecular biology techniques
- Execute PCR, cloning, mutagenesis, RNA isolation, and sequence analysis
- Evaluate antibody/nanobody performance using ELISA, flow cytometry, and Octet
- Analyze binding, function, stability, and developability of candidates
- Support antibody library generation and screening workflows
- Utilize molecular and some computational tools to optimize affinity and stability
- Perform basic data analysis and interpretation of experimental results
- Document experimental procedures and findings in lab notebooks and internal systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance discovery programs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 3–5+ years of experience, OR Master’s with 1–2+ years, OR recent PhD in a relevant scientific discipline
- Direct experience with phage display / bio-panning - required
- Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques (cloning, mutagenesis, sequencing, plasmid work)
- Experience working with antibody or nanobody libraries is highly desirable
- Hands-on experience with ELISA and/or flow cytometry for protein/antibody evaluation
- Familiarity with plasmid mapping and sequence analysis tools (e.g., SnapGene)
- Exposure to NGS is a big plus
- Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced lab environment
