Position Overview

Targeted Years of Experience

3-5 years

Despite the title, this role specifically seeks Satellite Engineering specialists. The focus is on RF theory and physical hardware rather than traditional IT networking.

  • Primary Focus: Satellite theory, RF frequencies (KU-C bands), and large-scale antenna operations.
  • Key Technical Knowledge: Spectrum analyzers, satellite test equipment, and understanding the difference between HPA and SSPA.
  • Certifications: CCNA/CCNP are considered "nice to have," but are secondary to satellite experience.

Contract & Candidate Profile

  • Terms: 2-year contract with a high historical probability of FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) conversion.
  • Location: Requires relocation at candidate's expense to Andover, Maine.
  • Experience Levels: 3–5 years of satellite communications experience.
  • Military: Strategic military backgrounds are highly valued (tactical experience is less relevant here).
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree is optional if the candidate has the required years of experience.

Key Responsibilities

This is a "boots-on-the-ground" role that balances technical configuration with heavy mechanical labor.

  • Hardware: Installation, configuration, and maintenance of six 13-meter antenna systems.
  • Mechanical Work: Hands-on maintenance, including the physical oiling and greasing of antenna systems.
  • Customer Support: Supporting the SCES collocation project by installing new equipment as requested.

Shift Structure & Training

The facility operates 24/7, requiring a rotating schedule to maintain coverage.

  • Schedule: 4x10 shift (4 days on, 3 days off).
  • Shift Times:
    • Day: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    • Swing: 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    • Midshift: 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Onboarding: New hires will spend the first 2 months on day shift for training before being moved to swing or midshifts to fill current staffing gaps.

Relocating to Andover, Maine offers a unique opportunity to work in a serene and picturesque environment, providing a perfect balance between professional growth and quality of life.
