Sales Representative
Job Summary
Responsible for receiving inbound calls from prospective and existing customers for individual dental insurance products, identifying their needs, recommending suitable plans, completing sales, and providing customer service support on eligibility, benefits, claims, enrollment, and billing with a focus on education, satisfaction, and retention.
Responsibilities
- Receive inbound calls from prospective customers for individual dental insurance products and from existing enrollees with service-related inquiries.
- Ask questions to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate product options based on those needs.
- Explain plan costs, benefits, and components of plan rate information in a clear and accurate manner.
- Complete new applications, guide callers through payment options, and complete the sale.
- Forward new customer information to the enrollment function and ensure accurate handoff.
- Respond to complex customer inquiries via telephone, electronic, or written channels regarding eligibility, benefits, provider search, claims, enrollment, and billing.
- Emphasize customer education, satisfaction, retention, and effective problem resolution in all interactions.
- Proactively respond to electronic and written inquiries from prospects or leads.
- Perform eligibility verifications for specific programs, including those involving third-party payers.
- Track and document customer interactions, resolutions, and any necessary claim adjustments in computer systems.
- Meet and maintain production standards, call counts, and inquiry response metrics.
- Handle complex calls that require research and analysis, particularly those related to enrollment and billing questions.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred;candidates with proven relevant experience may be considered without this credential.
- Active insurance sales license as required by state regulations (e.G., Life, Accident, Sickness);active Health License from any U.S. State is required.
- Approximately 4 years of successful customer service and sales experience in a call center or similar high-volume customer contact environment.
- Ability to pass basic computer, telephone skills, and math assessments.
- Ability to handle constant customer contact and work within a structured, routed workflow environment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills with effective multi-tasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to apply creative problem-solving.
- Ability to learn and retain new processes, including contact center policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Dental assisting certificate, dental office or dental lab experience, contact center experience in a dental insurance environment, or dental claims adjudication experience is a plus but not required.

Summary Qualification
- Extensive customer service and sales experience in a call center or similar environment.
- Licensed insurance professional with required health and related lines as mandated by state regulations.
- Proven ability to manage complex customer inquiries involving eligibility, benefits, claims, and billing.
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding performance and production standards.
- Background or exposure to dental insurance, dental offices, or dental claims processes preferred.
