Position Summary: The Safety Manager supports the safety program, field execution, and compliance across multiple projects. This individual works closely with safety leadership and field teams to help implement safety initiatives, reinforce safe work practices, and assist in identifying and mitigating risks. This role is ideal for a developing safety professional with construction experience, the ability to communicate effectively in the field, and a strong interest in growing within the safety discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Support
- Support the safety program and ensure alignment with company-wide safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist as a safety resource to Superintendents and Project Management teams.
- Support and collaborate with Safety Managers and field personnel across projects.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, data tracking, and safety program development.
Field Operations & Risk Mitigation
- Conduct job site safety inspections, identifying hazards and assisting with corrective actions.
- Support field teams by helping implement project-specific safety plans.
- Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), high-risk task planning, and project startup safety efforts.
Incident Response & Compliance
- Assist with incident and accident investigations, including documentation and follow-up.
- Help prepare safety reports and maintain accurate safety records.
- Support compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local regulations and internal standards.
Training & Development
- Assist with safety training programs, including onboarding, toolbox talks, and task-specific training.
- Support field training efforts and reinforce safe work practices.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to grow safety knowledge.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to address safety concerns.
- Promote a positive safety culture among craft workers, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and company initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety & Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant safety certifications (OSHA 30 required; CHST or similar preferred).
- 1–4+ years of safety experience in construction or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and safety management systems/software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow within the safety profession.
Physical Requirements
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and carry safety equipment.
- Prolonged periods of walking project sites, standing, computer work, and field exposure.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Must be able to travel between projects within the region.
