This pivotal role requires managing full adherence to FMCSA and DOT standards, fostering a safety-centered work culture, and maintaining perpetual audit preparedness. An energetic, proactive presence with comprehensive trucking industry insights is essential for success in this fast-moving environment.
Key duties include overseeing compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and Clearinghouse standards, acting as the main contact for regulatory bodies, and managing our Drug & Alcohol Testing initiatives. You will vigilantly monitor CSA scores, address any emerging safety trends, and guide us through DOT audits and inspections.
You will also be responsible for tracking incidents and implementing preventive actions to minimize risk. Maintaining detailed driver qualification records, leading safety training initiatives, and crafting new safety policies and documentation are crucial tasks. Your leadership will support dynamic, educational safety meetings and reinforce positive driver behavior. Additionally, you will manage injury claims and encourage a proactive safety culture throughout our operations.
**Qualifications & Experience:**
- Certification with DOT or a CDL (or capacity to achieve)
- Direct experience with CDL training
- Profound understanding of FMCSA and DOT compliance
- Experience in waste management or trucking sectors is advantageous
- Demonstrated efficacy in training and motivating teams
- Skill in building rapport with field and leadership teams
- Exceptional organizational and time management prowess
- Clear and effective communication abilities
- Familiarity with vehicle mechanics and equipment
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge to operate commercial vehicles under DOT guidelines
- Expertise in investigation and problem-solving
**Work Environment & Expectations:**
This role demands on-site leadership, maintaining visibility in a dynamic operational setting. Expect to lead on the ground, typically working 50–55 hours weekly with occasional flexing up to 60 hours. The schedule generally runs from 6 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
