Summary

John Deere is seeking a Safety Analyst to support the Safety Lead at the Waterloo Works Foundry, a large and complex manufacturing operation. This role focuses on strengthening health and safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across the facility.

The Safety Analyst will work closely with both salaried and hourly employees, providing hands-on support on the factory floor while analyzing safety data, conducting investigations, and delivering actionable insights to leadership. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating independently in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of health and safety management programs within a foundry environment.
• Analyze safety metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Research, document, and support implementation of safety best practices.
• Develop weekly, monthly, and annual safety reports, statistical graphs, and KPI scorecards.
• Communicate safety KPI performance to supervisors and leadership.
• Present weekly safety metrics during leadership meetings.
• Conduct incident investigations and ergonomic evaluations.
• Support corrective action development, tracking, and follow-up to closure.
• Maintain safety data and reporting using Cority, including:
  • Near miss and injury tracking
  • Corrective action management
  • OSHA 300 and 300A logs
  • BLS survey reporting
• Perform routine inspections and risk assessments, including:
  • Powered Industrial Truck audits and daily inspection reviews
  • SEAMS scheduling, facilitation, reporting, and past-due tracking
  • Floor-level verification of LOTO, confined space, fall protection, electrical JSAs, and PPE usage
  • PPE program audits and eye injury reduction initiatives
• Develop and deliver safety training programs and track employee completion.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least one year of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Advanced Excel skills, including spreadsheets and pivot tables.
• Experience preparing professional presentations and reports.
• Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and trend analysis.
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety programs, ergonomic principles, and industrial hygiene concepts.
• Understanding of applicable regulatory and governmental safety requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both salaried and hourly personnel.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Comfort working full-time onsite in a factory or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to travel between nearby facilities within a 20-mile radius using a personal vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 30-hour training in General Industry or Construction Safety.
• Experience supporting safety programs in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Experience working in unionized facilities or with collective bargaining units.
